The Kamakhya Temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in India, where parts of the body of the goddess Sati are believed to have fallen. It is located on the Nilachal Hill in Guwahati. It is dedicated to Kamakhya, the goddess of desire. This is the place, where Sati’s yoni (female genitalia) fell and this is the reason that this temple is famous as a temple of fertility and womanhood.
